Job Description
The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) is a parastatal organization established by an Act of Parliament to conduct such academic and other examinations at the conclusion of any approved course in Malawi as it may be considered desirable in the public interest and award certificates to successful candidates in such examinations.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the post of Principal Accountant (Grade M4).
Location: MANEB Head Office – Zomba
Purpose of the job
- To provide accounting services
Key duties and responsibilities
a. Coordinating activities in the Revenue Section
b. Preparing revenue reports and final revenue accounts
c. Coordinating, checking and consolidating of payments for Examinations Administrators, Examiners and other stakeholder payments
d. Overseeing invoices, receipts, cash sales
e. Coding payment vouchers
f. Assisting in preparation of annual budgets
g. Assisting in preparation of monthly financial reports and financial statements
h. Reviewing bank reconciliation statements and other general ledger account reconciliation.
i. Providing information and assistance to internal or external Auditors
j. Supervising and appraising staff under him/her
Qualifications and Requirements
- The applicant must hold Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or ACCA/ICAM (part II)
- At least four (4) years relevant working experience in a reputable organisation
- Must be a member of Malawi Accountants Board (MAB)
Requisite knowledge, Attributes and Skills
- Must be good at planning.
- Must have good communication skills
- Must be decisive and able to make independent judgment
- Excellent coordination, interpersonal and supervisory skills.
- Computer skills especially in spreadsheets
- High degree of confidentiality and integrity
- Ability to direct and mentor others.
