Job Description

The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) is a statutory body established under the Communications Act (Cap. 68:01 of the Laws of Malawi) to regulate the country’s communications sector.

Under the Communications Act of 2016, MACRA is mandated to regulate and monitor the provision of communications services and ensure that, as far as it is practicable, reliable and affordable communications services are provided throughout Malawi.

In line with its quest for skills development and upliftment within the communication sector, MACRA has embarked on a program to create opportunities for internship and attachment for graduates to get practical work experience which will complement their competence and employability. The Authority, therefore, is looking for persons to be considered for internship. The details of the internship vacancies are as follows:

PROCUREMENT OFFICER (INTERN) (2 POSITIONS)

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Managing the end-to-end procurement process, from identifying needs to contract management.
  2. Implementing procurement strategies to achieve optimal outcomes for the organization.
  3. Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers, negotiating small contracts, and managing supplier relationships.
  4. Ensuring compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  5. Managing procurement data and reporting, including tracking of spend, identifying trends, and making recommendations for improvement.
  6. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  7. Keeping up date with market trends and best practices in procurement.
  8. Providing guidance and support to stakeholders on procurement-related matters.
  9. Monitoring supplier performance and conducting regular reviews to ensure ongoing improvement.
  10. Ensuring timely resolution of procurement-related issues and concerns.

Requisite Qualification

  1. Graduates of Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field from a recognised College or University.

The ideal candidate for the position is expected to have the following:

  1. Good interpersonal skills.
  2. Good computer and research skills
  3. Knowledge in Computer-excel and word
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
  5. Ability to work as part of a team.

DURATION OF INTERNSHIP

The interns shall be engaged on a 1-year contract with a possible extension depending on the needs in the departments.
