Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates of Malawian origin to fill Non-Established (NE) posts available in the Education Sector of Balaka District Council. The recruitment has been made possible with funding from the Save the Children Fund under a Numeracy and Literacy Program to be implemented for five (5) years from 2024 to 2028.

The posts are as follows:

Title: Program Coordinator
Reporting to: Director of Education and Sports.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage the overall implementation of the program including planning, implementation, monitoring, supervision and evaluation.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector partners,
    partner CSOs and community organizations.
  3. Ensure the program meets its objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
  4. Monitor program progress and make necessary adjustments to achieve desired outcomes.
  5. In liaison with MEAL and program staff, prepare and present program reports to donors and stakeholders
  6. Coordinate with team members to ensure seamless integration of program activities.
  7. Oversee the development and implementation of capacity-building activities for program staff and partners.
  8. Ensure compliance with government policies and donor regulations.
  9. Manage program budget and financial resources efficiently.
  10. Facilitate regular team meetings and provide leadership and guidance.
  11. Represent the program in relevant forums and advocacy platforms.
  12. Plan and host high level donor field visits and distil key findings and recommendations and share with key relevant stakeholders
  13. Address any issues or challenges that arise during program implementation.
  14. Any other roles assigned from time to time.

Qualification and Experience

  • A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Education, or a related field
  • Previous experience as a primary or secondary school teacher
  • At least 4 years of work experience in education programing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer applications.
  • Evidence of a strong network of client relationships in Malawi.
