About Us
The Vital Rights Foundation (VRF) is a newly established non-profit organization dedicated to achieving health equity by enhancing access to justice in human rights, health, and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Malawi. VRF addresses systemic barriers to healthcare and promotes the rights of economically disadvantaged individuals through advocacy, capacity building, and legal support programs.
Role Summary
VRF is seeking a Programme Officer with a strong background in managing projects within NGOs or Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) focusing on human rights. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing, implementing, and monitoring impactful programs and a commitment to promoting justice and equity.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and oversee VRF’s human rights and justice programs to achieve desired outcomes.
- Develop and maintain project budgets, work plans, and timelines.
- Coordinate capacity-building initiatives such as workshops, training sessions, and community outreach activities.
- Monitor and evaluate program performance, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Foster partnerships and collaborations with stakeholders, including donors, CSOs, and government agencies.
- Prepare periodic project reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent VRF in advocacy campaigns, conferences, and public forums to promote the organization’s mission.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies in program implementation.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Law, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Human Rights, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in project management within an NGO or CSO, preferably in human rights or related areas.
- Strong understanding of principles of Reproductive Justice and human rights principles and their application in the Malawian context.
- Proven experience in proposal writing, project design, and donor reporting.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office applications.
