EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY IN NCA/DCA MALAWI JOINT COUNTRY PROGRAMME

Norwegian Church Aid and DanChurchAid works with people and organizations around the world in their struggle to eradicate poverty and injustice. We provide emergency assistance in disasters and work for long-term development in local communities. To address the root causes of poverty, we advocate for just decisions by public authorities, businesses, and religious leaders.

Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) and DanChurchAid are International Non-Governmental Organizations working in over 30 countries around the world and members of the worldwide ACT-Alliance, comprised of 140 churches and church-related organizations cooperating on humanitarian assistance, advocacy, and development. NCA/DCA has been working in Malawi since 2002 and the Malawi Strategic Priorities for the period 2025-2029 are Gender Based Violence, Climate Environmental Stewardship, Climate Resilient WASH and Economic Development and Food Security. For NCA/DCA to continue developing its and partners’ programmes in Malawi, NCA/DCA seek an experienced person with solid knowledge and skills to fill the following position in the Country office based in Lilongwe:

PROGRAMME OFFICER – FIGHTING INEQUALITY

The successful candidate will be a part of the NCA/DCA team, based in Lilongwe, and will report to the Programme Coordinator, Fighting Inequality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project Coordination and management of Fighting Inequality.
  • Networking and capacity building of Stakeholders and Communities for the projects.
  • Assist in management of projects, networking and coordination of partners within the thematic area.
  • Ensuring that all interventions are aligned to NCA/DCA Country Strategy and relevant national policies.
  • Ensuring alignment to global strategic goals and Country Office Strategic Priorities
  • Monitoring of projects for efficient and effective use of donor funds

MAIN TASKS

  • Provide updated technical knowledge within the project to strategy, reports and proposals
  • Planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting on the project according to the project cycle
  • Provide technical training and follow-up of partners within the project
  • Ensure linkage between NCA/DCA and stakeholders within the project
  • Mobilize partners to do advocacy
  • Mobilize resources for the projects
  • Ensuring proper archiving of all program documentation according to NCA and DCA routines and systems
  • Submitting monthly, quarterly, annual reports to NCA/DCA global, donors, and senior management
  • Contribute his/her knowledge from NCA/DCA’s work within Fight Extreme Inequality and Danida Framework management.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS

  • The Programme Officer should have a minimum of University Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, or any related field obtained from a recognized academic institution.
  • He or She should have at least 3 years’ relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding ot, and work experience in highlighting inequality as a thematic
  • discipline, community development and mobilization, Gender and Human Rights, Resource
  • Governance and Economic Empowerment.
  • Proven experience in understanding of project management.
  • Experience from NGO and/or development work
  • Strong networking and representation skills and proven stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent drafting, communication, and proven experience in managing and working with a team
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness in undertaking field work out of Lilongwe and representing NCA/DCA
  • Willingness and ability to work with all faiths
