PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Integrating Aquaculture-Agriculture to Combat Food Insecurity in Malawi (IAAM) Project is a 5-year project funded by Norad.  The goal of the project is to increase the productivity and income of, and access to markets by small-scale food producers, especially women, engaged in the integrated aquaculture-agriculture system (IAAS) comprising of fish, crops, livestock, and agroforestry sub-systems to combat food insecurity.   We are looking for an experienced driver for our Lilongwe country office team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Transportation

  • Safely and efficiently operate company vehicle to transport personnel, volunteers, etc. to various project sits
  • Comply with all terms and conditions of CDF Canada Company Vehicle and Safety Policies 
  • Adhere to local traffic laws and regulations
  • Plan routes to optimize travel time, safety, and fuel efficiency

Vehicle Maintenance

  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance checks on assigned vehicles.
  • Ensure that vehicles are in good working condition and report any issue promptly.
  • Coordinate with the logistics team to schedule routine maintenance and repairs.

Logistics Support

  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle use, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.

Security and Safety

  • Implement security measures to safeguard passengers, vehicle, and cargo during transportation.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and emergency procedures and respond appropriately in case of accidents or incidents per policies.

Communication

  • Maintain effective communication with project coordinators, logistics staff, and other team members.
  • Report any delays, deviations, or issues related to transportation promptly.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Proof of driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Proven experience as a professional driver, preferably in an international development or humanitarian context.
  • Knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations.
