Job Description

TIYENI is a local non-governmental organization mandated to promote sustainable farming in Malawi through an innovative climate smart agriculture method known as the Deep Bed Farming. Since 2005, Tiyeni has been implementing soil and water conservation agriculture to smallholder farm families to achieve food security and combat poverty at household level in Malawi.

With Funding from the Global Innovation Fund GIF, Tiyeni in Partnership with the Northern Region Water Board NRWB and the Stockholm International Water Institute SIWI is implementing a 4 year project to conserve the Lunyangwa River Catchment in Mzimba.

We are inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following vacant position.

General Abilities and skills

  1. Ability to work under pressure and meet targets
  2. Passionate about serving farmers in the rural areas
  3. Must be able to work with minimum supervision
  4. Excellent report writing skills
  5. Ability to analyse data and provide actionable insights based on field assessments.
  6. Designing and implementing M&E systems
  7. Problem-Solving Abilities. A proactive approach to identifying challenges and developing solutions.
  8. Strong Communication Skills

PROJECT MANAGER

Responsibilities

  1. Program designing: Panning, creating road-map for implementation, etc. To receive organizationl goals
    effectively and efficiently.
  2. Program implementation: Manage the day-to-day implementation of programs
  3. Monitoring and reporting: Monitor and report on the progress of programs
  4. Communication: Manage communication efforts, including advocacy and knowledge building
  5. Contribute to program development and proposal writing.
  6. Technical assistance: Provide technical assistance and capacity development to program partners
  7. Project management: Manage the people and financial resources of the project
  8. Project activities: Coordinate project activities, such as meetings, workshops, and training sessions.

Qualifications and Skills

  1. A degree in Project Management, Agricultural Economics Environmental and Natural Resources Management or any other relevant qualification from a recognized Agriculture Institution. Those with Masters of Science degree will have an added advantage.
  2. Excellent communication and representational skills
  3. Experience working communities stakeholders.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  5. Minimum of five years of experience.
