Job Description

Umodzi Holdings Limited (UHL) is a prestigious domestic brand under thename ‘Umodzi Park and Resorts’ (UPR), situated in the heart of Malawi’s capital city, Lilongwe. UHL is a 100% Government-owned company that boasts properties like the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC), a five-star hotel, and the Presidential Village, which offers world-class accommodation and office rental facilities.

UHL is inviting applications from energetic, result-oriented, and suitably qualified Malawians within the organization to fill the following vacant positions:

Job Title: Receptionist

Reporting to: Front Office Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently check guests in upon arrival and ensure a seamless check-out process at departure.
  • Verify and process guest documentation, payment methods, and reservations.
  • Accurately maintain and manage guest room accounts, ensuring all charges are correctly recorded.
  • Resolve billing queries promptly and professionally.
  • Uphold the hotel’s standards by following all established front office procedures and guidelines.
  • Provide outstanding service to guests, addressing their needs and enhancing their experience.
  • Operate the hotel’s Property Management System (e.g., Opera) to manage reservations and guest accounts efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records and utilize computer systems for communication, room allocations, and reporting.
  • Respond to telephone inquiries, redirect calls, and provide accurate information about the hotel and its services.
  • Proactively assist guests with special requests, ensuring clear communication across departments.

Qualification and Experience

  • A Diploma in Hospitality Management from a recognized institution.
  • Proficiency in hotel management software, with knowledge of Opera or similar systems considered a significant advantage.
  • Strong computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing), with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with guests and colleagues.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with a focus on creating a welcoming and positive guest experience.
  • Previous experience in a front office or similar role within a 4- or 5-star hotel environmentis highly desirable.
