Job Description

We are looking for a REGISTERED ARCHITECT

BACKGROUND

Beehive Centre for Social Enterprise is dedicated to transforming lives & communities through innovative & sustainable social enterprises. We focus on creating opportunities, fostering entrepreneurship, & delivering impactful solu- tions to address the socio-economic chal- lenges in Malawi. With a staff of 597, we run schools, businesses, farms & a construction enterprise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Overseeing the architectural design, coordination & management of various Beehive Construction projects from concept stage through to completion, & ensuring that projects are completed in a timely & cost-effective manner
2. Signing-off Architectural designs for submission to the relevant government authorities, for approval, & ensuring that formal permissions / approvals for each built project are received and documented, within the required timeframes
3. Ensuring that architectural design outputs are compliant with local building codes & laws
4. Working closely with Project Engineers, in both Malawi & the UK, to ensure that structural documents issued for use on-site are fully-coordinated with architectural intent
5. Working closely with the Construction Manager & Local Site Engineers in Malawi to review, check & assess structures & details being constructed on-site against issued design documents & specifications
6. Liaising with various design Consultants, in both Malawi & the UK, to ensure that the Client’s brief is achieved, in design-terms

7. Liaising with various external technical Consultants, in both Malawi & the UK, to ensure that building services are fully coordinated with architectural & engineering intent
8. Liaising with staff & sub-contractors working on-site to ensure that information issued & being built-from is correct & up-to-date

9. Assisting in preparing budgets & programmes for construction projects
10. Mentoring & training Architectural Assistants so that drawing production is efficiently & correctly delivered
11. Communicating regularly with the Directors & Funders in the UK, ensuring that they are aware of project design and construction progress

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES

1. Up-to-Date Registration with the Malawi Board of Architects
2. Member of the Malawi Institute of Architects 3- MSCE
4. Degree in Architecture (or similar)
5- Masters in Architecture (or similar)
6. Professional Architectural Examination certificate (or similar)
7. Minimum 5 years professional experience as a working Architect/Architectural Assistant in
Malawi
8. Strong understanding of construction methods & processes in Malawi
9. Self-motivated & results orientated 10. Organised, reliable & punctual
11. Excellent management skills
12- Excellent communication skills, both written & spoken
13- Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills 14. Passion for social enterprise & commitment to making a positive impact
