Job Description
The University of Blantyre Synod is a private, fast –growing university, established by the Church of Central African Presbyterian (CCAP) Blantyre Synod in 2016. It was accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) in 2021. Currently, the University is offering the following qualifications: Bachelor of Education (Humanities); University Certificate in Education; Master in Theology, Bachelor of Arts in Theology; Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing; Bachelor of Commerce in Business Management; ABMA Diploma Programmes (Levels 4-6): Diploma in Information Systems; Diploma in Computer Engineering; Diploma in Human Resource; Diploma in Business Management and Diploma in Community Development.
The University of Blantyre Synod (UBS) is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons to be considered for the positions of Registrar, Human Resource Officer and Lecturer in Accounting and Finance.
REGISTRAR
The Registrar is the Chief Administration Officer of the University of Blantyre Synod.
He/she is supervised by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) /the Vice Chancellor.
The Registrar is responsible for:
- Keep and maintain a Register of Members of the University of Blantyre Synod.
- Manage academic records for students, such as class enrollment, schedules and other information needed by the institution.
- Organize student records, working with various Faculty Deans to ensure accuracy and pulling academic records when requested.
- Keep the academic records of students and provide such when information when needed.
- Ensure effective coordination and implementation of the University policies.
- Give leadership to drafting key university policy documents and ensure that right channels are followed for approval.
- Give leadership to the formulation and implementation of the University strategic plan
- Ensure that the effective administration systems are in place and in line with the University policies and procedures according to best practices.
- Oversee proper keeping of all University records.
- Record and produce University Management, Senate and Council meetings minutes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Public Administration, preferably in Human Resource Management or related field.
- Five years working experience in a similar capacity;
- Conversant with modern information management technologies including student management systems (SMS).
- Demonstrated evidence of good interpersonal relations, communication and negotiation skills.
