Job Description

We seek a highly skilled and dedicated Retail Pharmacist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for dispensing and managing prescription and non-prescription medications. This role requires adherence to legal and ethical standards to ensure the secure handling of medications and their accurate distribution to the appropriate patients in the correct quantities. Additionally, the Retail Pharmacist will oversee the management of online prescriptions and the dispensation of medicines through dispatchers. The position is based in Lilongwe, and residents of Lilongwe are encouraged to apply.

Typical duties include:

  • Provide advice about health issues, symptoms, and medications in response to customer inquiries.
  • Process and checking prescriptions, and dispensing medication
  • Provide vaccinations
  • Order and sell medicines and other stock
  • Provide specialist health services such as smoking cessation guidance
  • Meet medical representatives

Qualifications and training required

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from an accredited institution.
  • Proven experience working as a pharmacist in a retail setting.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceuticals, including both prescription and non-prescription medications.
  • Excellent knowledge of legal and ethical guidelines for pharmaceutical practice.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in prescription handling and dispensing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient and team interactions.
  • Proficiency in using pharmacy management software and systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Registration with the Pharmacy, Medicines & Regulatory Authority (PMRA).
  • PMRA valid practicing certificate of the pharmacist.
