VisionFund Malawi is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the post of Risk and Compliance Manager tenable at its Head Office in Lilongwe.

JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the position is responsible for identification, evaluation, assessment, monitoring and reporting of any potential risk that VFM may be exposed to and implementation and putting in place processes and procedures that will enable the MFI to manage the risks.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Assess the appropriateness of the risk management measurement methodologies and stress testing procedures
  • Assist with the development of new products/Business activities, pricing and risk models
  • Carry out risk assessments on all major risks VFM is exposed to and report to senior management for appropriate action
  • Ensure appropriate risk measures are available in the business units as decision support tools
  • Monitor positions against approved risk appetites, limits and report results for appropriate action
  • Assist finance department in effective capital management and continuously conduct and monitor capital assessments and report for necessary action
  • Promote risk awareness and culture amongst members of staff in VFM including Financial crimes
  • Oversee the compilation of monthly regulatory reports for regulatory committee members to discuss e.g. ALCO, RMC, CMC
  • Ensure RBM call reports are completed, reviewed and submitted with stipulated deadlines as set by RBM
    Prepare Board papers within specified time frames and ensuring implementation of any recommendations by the Board
  • Ensure measures are in place for VFM to continue its business operations even in the event of an emergency or disaster

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration or any related professional study. Those with risk certification such as CRMA will have an added advantage.
  • Determined personality with initiative, perseverance and the ability to motivate others and manage a team
  • Capability and willingness to take responsibility and highly developed sense of reliability and correctness
  • Ready to comply and live up to and in accordance with the organization Ideals and Core Values
  • Be a good trainer, facilitator, mentor, and coach
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office, communication and computing skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Deep understanding and knowledge related to Ethics and Compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability in drafting technical communications and writing management reports.
  • Experience and demonstrated success working with and engaging senior
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive experience working in a financial institution
