Job Description

Mwaiwathu Private Hospital invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Risk & Compliance Officer tenable at the Hospital along Chileka Road in Blantyre.

Position Context

Reporting to the Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance Manager, the Risk & Compliance Officer will assist in promoting a risk and compliance awareness culture across the Hospital.

Specific duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • To providing risk input in internal audit activities including risk-based audit planning.
  • To ensure all aspects of the Hospital’s Quality Improvement Program (QIP) on risk management are adequately addressed.
  • To assist in monitoring Hospital-wide compliance with both medical and non-medical regulations.
  • To assist in monitoring adherence to Service Level Agreements and Contracts with the Hospitals’ service providers.
  • To assist in conducting awareness trainings and consultative meetings on risk management across the Hospital.
  • To assist in developing risk monitoring tools for all types of risks within the Hospital (medical and non-medical).
  • To attend scheduled and ad-hoc risk management committee meetings.
  • To coordinate the development of departmental risk registers and updating the Hospital-wide risk register.
  • To ensure all identified risks are properly Categorized, Measured and Treated to acceptable levels.
  • To work hand in hand with departmental and unit managers to ensure implementation of proposed risk mitigating measures/action plans.

Educational Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Accounting, Auditing, Business Administration or related fields
  • At least two years- work experience in risk and compliance management.
  • Experience handling medical and non-medical risks in a hospital setting will be an added advantage.
  • Must be registered and paid-up member of ICAM and/ Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)
