Job Description

NASCOMEX Limited, the commercial arm of NASFAM is seeking the services of a suitably qualified individual to fill the vacant position of Sales and Marketing Manager. 

The Sales and Marketing Manager is responsible for the growth and development of NASCOMEX business making sure that short, medium and long term sales and marketing plans and strategies for all NASFAM brands are designed (through research and development of sales and marketing opportunities), tracked and implemented in line with business objectives.  

The position is directly answerable to the General Manager and is responsible for managing the sales and marketing team and works closely with other key departments to ensure that sales and marketing targets are efficiently attained.  

The position is available at the NASCOMEX Head Office in Kanengo, Lilongwe.

Specific duties and responsibilities include the following;

  1. Develop sales and marketing strategies including those for the distribution of commodities for all NASCOMEX products. 
  2. Develop sales and marketing action plans, implementing product quality and customer-service standards, identifying sales trends, determining system improvements and implementing change.
  3. Develop and implement sales and marketing financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing annual sales and marketing budgets, monitor scheduling of expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
  4. In conjunction with the Chief Accountant, develop annual gross-profit plans by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and shops; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products; analyzing sales trends and results; formulating pricing strategies; recommending selling prices; monitoring sales and marketing costs, competition, supply, and demand.
  5. Increase sales of NASCOMEX products and commodities by developing and implementing advertising, marketing and promotional programmes at different levels including development of district sales action plans
  6. Proactively researching marketing trends and providing advice and recommendations to Executive Management for continuous improvements
  7. Manage the sales and marketing team to ensure that targets are continuously achieved 

Experience and Qualification 

Qualification:  The Sales and Marketing Manager must have a minimum qualification of Master’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or any related field from a recognised university. 

Experience: At least 5 years in a similar role.

Key Competencies / Attributes and Skills

  1. Must have demonstrated experience in developing sales and marketing concepts, strategies and implementation of the same
  2. Must have the ability to develop sales and marketing plans and related budgets 
  3. Must have good negotiation, communication and presentation skills and the ability to interact with people at different levels and maintain client relationships
  4. Must have the ability to understand and analyse latest marketing trends and recommend changes to ensure that NASCOMEX products and commodities remain competitive. 
  5. Must be self-motivated person, very organised with the ability to prioritise high value activities and remain focused while working under pressure
  6. Must have demonstrated leadership skills and ability to inspire good performance within the team 
  7. Those with experience in sales and marketing of fast-moving consumer goods will have an added advantage.
