Job Description

Program: Building Education Foundations Through Innovation and Technology (BEFIT) Program
Location: Lilongwe/ Ntcheu

Reports To: District Coordinator

Job Overview:

The Field Officer for the BEFIT Program will be responsible for implementing program activities at the field level, ensuring effective delivery and coordination with local stakeholders. The role involves engaging with schools, educators, and community members to support the integration of innovative technologies into educational practices. The Field Officer will collect data, monitor progress, and provide feedback to the program team to ensure the successful achievement of the program’s objectives.

Core responsibilities:

Field Implementation:

  • Coordinate and implement program activities at the field level, including workshops, training sessions, and technology integration initiatives.
  • Work closely with educators and school administrators to support the adoption of educational technologies introduced by the program.
  • Ensure that all field activities align with the program’s objectives and are executed according to the planned schedule.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, including schools, teachers, community leaders, and government officials.
  • Facilitate regular communication between the program team and field-level stakeholders to ensure smooth collaboration.
  • Address any issues or concerns raised by stakeholders and provide timely feedback to the program management team.

Monitoring and Data Collection:

  • Monitor the progress of program activities at the field level, ensuring adherence to project plans and timelines.
  • Collect quantitative and qualitative data from the field, including feedback from educators and students.
  • Assist in conducting surveys, assessments, and evaluations to measure the impact of the program’s activities.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and submit regular field reports detailing activities, challenges, and outcomes.
  • Document success stories, lessons learned, and best practices from the field to share with the program team.
  • Maintain accurate records of field activities, including attendance, feedback, and data collected.

Support for Training and Capacity Building:

  • Assist in organizing and delivering training sessions for educators, school staff, and other stakeholders on the use of educational technologies.
  • Provide ongoing support and mentorship to educators to ensure effective implementation of technology-based learning tools.
  • Identify and address training needs and gaps in the field to enhance the program’s impact.

Problem-Solving and Adaptation:

  • Identify challenges and obstacles encountered during field activities and work proactively to find solutions.
  • Adapt program activities and approaches to fit the local context and respond to emerging needs.
  • Escalate any significant issues or risks to the Program Manager or Field Coordinator for further action.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Work closely with the program team to ensure effective coordination and alignment of field activities with overall program goals.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to share updates, challenges, and insights from the field.
  • Support other team members as needed to ensure the successful implementation of the program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fieldwork or communitybased program implementation, preferably in the education sector.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in working with schools, teachers, and community leaders in rural or under-resourced areas.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data, with attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in implementing educational programs that integrate technology or innovative teaching methods.
  • Knowledge of local languages and cultural practices in the program’s target area.
