THE ORGANISATION

The Medical Council of Malawi (MCM) is a Statutory Corporation established under the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Act No. 17 of 1987 Chapter 36:01 of the Laws of Malawi. MCM exists to protect the general public and guide the medical, dental and allied health professions. MCM has the mandate of regulating practitioners and health facilities, regulating training of health care workers, and managing health care complaints.

To fulfil its mandate, MCM would like to fill the following position:

Senior Compliance Officer MCM 3

Therefore, applications are invited from qualified, motivated, innovative, energetic and experienced persons of Malawi origin to fill the positions below tenable at the MCM offices in Lilongwe: –

SENIOR COMPLIANCE OFFICER GRADE MCM 3.

A. GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Compliance Officer shall support the Director of Regulatory Enforcement

B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Officer shall be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate and lead the inspectorate department and line management of compliance officers and assistant compliance officers.
  • Supervise/train Compliance Officers and Assistant Compliance Officers in conducting their duties.
  • Process applications for private practice and draft programs for inspection.
    Draw lists of private practice applications and develop initial inspection programs for management.
  • Compile and submit monthly, quarterly and annual compliance department reports and ensure that all the inspections and investigations reports have been submitted timely.
  • Lead and conduct compliance inspections, spot checks and investigations.
  • Draft budgets and costs of the compliance departments, review all programs for the direct reportees before they are submitted to the Director Regulatory and Enforcement.
  • Assist in conducting operational research.
  • Facilitate customer services and support responses to compliance queries from practitioners and institutions
  • Manage systems for accurate documentation and tracking of health care complaints to ensure all issues are addressed timely.
  • Develop and maintain the inspection database to aid decision making.
  • Develop and maintain compliance quality improvement processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, procedures, and policies
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Regulatory and Enforcement.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, education, experience, and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health related field from an accredited institution for a program accredited by the Medical Council of Malawi.
  • Those with a Master’s degree in a Health related field will have an added advantage.
  • At least a combined 5 years of experience in health service provision.
  • Competent in general administration work, team leadership, human resources management.
  • Should be registered and in good standing with the Medical Council of Malawi.
  • Knowledge and working experience with the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Act
