About the Role
Nyasa Tobacco invites applications for the position of Senior Leaf Buyer, a pivotal role responsible for buying, classifying, and supporting the blending and processing of tobacco.
This position also includes mentoring junior buyers and contributing to account management activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tobacco Buying:
- Value tobacco in accordance with the company’s Buying Policy.
- Actively participate in both Auction and Contract Markets.
2. Classification:
- Classify tobacco according to the established grading system.
- Contribute to sales functions on the Auction Floors.
3. Account Support:
- Assist in preparing Green Blends tailored to customer specifications.
- Facilitate blending and processing to meet customer requirements.
- Organize and oversee customer inspections of processed tobacco.
- Compile market reports for internal and external stakeholders.
4. Supervision:
• Supervise and provide guidance to Leaf Buyers and Trainee Buyers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Malawi School Certificate of Education (Essential); Agricultural Degree (Advantageous).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of tobacco buying experience (Essential).
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong computer proficiency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
