The National Economic Empowerment Fund Limited (NEEF) is a government owned Microfinance Institution whose mission is to economically empower ordinary and underserved Malawians particularly women, youth, and persons with disability through the provision of quality, affordable, and sustainable microfinance services for improved livelihoods.

SENIOR RISK AND COMPLIANCE OFFICER (NF5) 2 positions- Head office

Job Title: Senior Risk and Compliance Officer

Reports to : Chief Risk and Compliance Officer
Responsible for: Risk and Compliance Officer
Tenable : Head office

Job Purpose

To be responsible for providing strategic support, implementing risk management and compliance framework, policies, and programs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinating the identification of mitigating factors to the risks associated with the current and proposed future business activities.
  2. Maintaining accurate and organized documentation related to risk assessment compliance audits and incident investigations and submitting them to the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer.
  3. Designing and updating an inventory of essential policies, laws, regulations and guidelines that governs the business of NEEF.
  4. Facilitating trainings and educating staff members in risk and compliance-related matters and ethical practices.
  5. Liaising with the Internal Audit department and Operationsdepartmentinimplementing and following up on the audit exceptions’ recommendations
  6. Advising on compliance matters, regulatory updates, and emerging risks while overseeing the preparation of reports for regulators, auditors and external bodies
  7. Integrating risk management practices into NEEF’S
    operational areas
  8. Coordinating internal and external auditors during risk and compliance audits, ensuring timely reporting and implementing collective measures based on audit findings.
  9. Developing internal policies, procedures, processes and guidelines in relation to the governing laws,
    corporate governance, code of ethics, professional conduct, and market conduct.
  10. Preparing periodic and activity reports

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and/or Accounting, Economics, Business Information Technology, Legal Business Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Audit or any risk-related field from an NCHE accredited institution;
  • 3 years relevant work experience in a similar role
