Job Description

Background

The Malawi Agricultural and Industrial Investment Corporation (MAIIC) Plc is a local development finance institution (DFI) incorporated in November 2018 under the Company’s Act of 2013. The company was established to bridge the long-term financing gap in Malawi and spearhead private sector development. MAIIC is a commercially oriented DFI set up to play a leading role in socio-economic development in the country.

SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

Position Summary

The Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. The role involves monitoring systems, implementing updates, and providing technical support, reporting to the Head of ICT.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer and support the company’s Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
  • Administer VPN, LAN, and WAN connections.
  • Implement and maintain network security protocols.
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including switches, routers, SIEM, IDPS and firewalls.
  • Manage and maintain operating systems such as Windows and Linux.
  • Ensure availability and performance of systems, applications, and network services.
  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, both physical and virtual (VMware and Hyper-V).
  • Provide technical support to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions in Active Directory.
  • Conduct training sessions and provide documentation to staff.
  • Develop and implement data backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Regularly test recovery processes to ensure data integrity.
  • Monitor and respond to security breaches, apply updates and patches, and ensure compliance with IT policies and regulations.
  • Use monitoring tools to track system performance, uptime, and health, and prepare reports on usage trends and potential risks.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or any related qualification.
  • At least 3 years of experience working in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Experience in the financial services industry is a plus.
  • Familiarity with core banking systems and their daily operations.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms, cloud services, and backup solutions.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, MCSE, or CCNA are a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle databases, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience in high-availability data centres
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
