Job Description

Key Responsibilities for the Role:

  • Monitor and analyze social, cultural, industry, and media trends.
  • Conduct primary and secondary research to gather market intelligence.
  • Identify emerging trends that could influence marketing and advertising strategies.
  • Produce weekly and monthly trend reports, highlighting actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with creative and strategy teams to incorporate trends into campaigns.
  • Evaluate marketing channels for performance and trends.
  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

Skills Needed for the Trend and Insights Analyst Role

1. Analytical Skills

  • Ability to interpret complex data and identify meaningful trends.
  • Strong proficiency in analyzing quantitative and qualitative information.

2. Research Skills

  • Expertise in conducting primary and secondary research, including surveys, focus groups, and competitive analysis.
  • Familiarity with research methodologies and tools for market analysis.

3. Communication Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication for presenting findings in reports and presentations.
  • Ability to translate technical data into actionable insights for various audiences.

4. Marketing and Industry Knowledge

  • Understanding of marketing channels (digital, traditional, and social media) and how trends impact them.
  • Familiarity with key industry trends in marketing, advertising, and consumer behavior.

5. Critical Thinking

  • Ability to think strategically and anticipate market shifts.
  • Skill in identifying opportunities and risks within emerging trends.

6. Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in tools like Excel, Google Analytics or relevant tools for data visualization and reporting.
  • Familiarity with social listening tools (e.g. Brandwatch, Meltwater, or Hootsuite).
  • Basic knowledge of SEO, SEM, and digital marketing analytics.

7. Creativity and Innovation

  • Ability to spot unconventional trends and propose innovative solutions or strategies.
  • Skills in brainstorming new approaches to data collection and analysis.

8. Project Management

  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects, timelines, and deadlines.
  • Experience in producing weekly and monthly reports consistently.

Qualifications Required

1. Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as:
  • Marketing
  • Business Administration
  • Data Science or Analytics
  • Sociology or Anthropology (if focused on cultural and social trends)
  • Economics or Statistics

2. Professional Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in a related role:
  • Market research
  • Data analysis
  • Marketing or advertising strategy
  • Social media analysis or digital marketing
  • Internship experience in research, trend analysis, or marketing can be considered for entry-level candidates.

3. Certifications in data analytics, digital marketing will be an added advantage
