Job Description

The Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) is an ecumenical association of Church-owned facilities in Malawi and the Secretariat is the central coordination unit of the Association.  CHAM is the second largest provider of health services in Malawi with 187 Health Facilities and 11 Training Colleges which are located in all parts of the country. Most of the Health Facilities are situated in the remote and hard-to-reach areas. The objectives of CHAM are to facilitate, provide technical support, and develop health services among all member facilities in order to achieve equity in access to health care, patient care and in all matters, to act for the benefit of the people of Malawi.

CHAM Secretariat invites applications for the position of Warehouse Assistant as follows:

Position:  WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT

Grade: CS2

Department: Health Services

Reports to: Pharmacy Manager

Purpose of the Position

Ensuring good pharmaceutical practices in the areas of cleanliness, proper storage, warehousing, packaging and all the logistics involving pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical products including Customer Care services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Maintaining the receiving, warehousing and distribution of pharmaceuticals in compliance with the organization and PMRA policies.
  2. Keeping stock control systems up-to-date by using both automated and manual systems for reconciliation as well as to avoid drug pilferages.
  3. Maintaining the physical condition of the warehouse and efficient space utilization while following the warehousing regulation of PMRA.
  4. Participating in regular inventory counts and audits to ensure accuracy and identify any potential issues.
  5. Preparing monthly and quarterly stock inventory reports.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Certificate or Diploma in managing drug supply chain, quality control of medicines, essentials of pharmacy practice, standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  2. Certificate in Procurement and Supply Chain from Chartered institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) will be an added advantage.
  3. Experience of working in a similar environment for more than two years.

Requisite Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  1. Be able to work with minimum supervision and under pressure
  2. Accuracy in planning, record keeping, receiving and issuing items
  3. Attention to detail
  4. Excellent communication skills and a team player
  5. Dedicated and honest
  6. Be able to operate stores software
