VACANCY: DATA COLLECTORS
Tampere University Maternal and Child Health Project (TUMCHP) is a research unit at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences focused on maternal and child health. The Project is currently running several projects in the catchment area of Lungwena Health Center. TUMCHP urgently needs the services of data collectors.
DATA COLLECTORS – Lungwena, Mangochi (3 Positions)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The data collectors will work on any of the current TUMCHP studies– supporting the project in the field in high quality data collection to address scientific aims of the studies.
Duration of contract: The initial contract will be for one year with possibility for further extension based on performance and availability of funding.
Reporting Line: He/ She will be reporting to the Site Coordinator
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The key responsibilities will include:
• Collects data at household level and at the study office through face-to-face interviews
• Accurately record responses using standardized data collection tools on tablet
computers.
• Adhere to established data collection protocols, ensuring data quality and completeness.
• Build and ensure continued good rapport with respondents to encourage participation and accurate responses.
• Maintain confidentiality of all study participants information.
• Meet assigned quotas and deadlines for data collection.
• Report any challenges or issues encountered during data collection to the study coordinator and investigators
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• A minimum qualification of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination will be considered (higher qualification is an asset).
• Strong knowledge of interview techniques
• Previous experience in collecting quantitative and qualitative data (Those with data collection experience in nutrition and/or child development assessment will have an
added advantage)
• Perfect command of English
• Good knowledge of local language (Yao)
• Exceptional reading and writing / note taking skills
• Familiarity, willingness and ability to work in rural areas
• Resident within Mangochi boma area.
REMUNERATION
• Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and qualifications applicable to staff in the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences. KUHES is an equal opportunity employer.
