Job Description

We are searching for an experienced GIS Consultant at our Malawi facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

PROPEL Health supported the Reproductive Health Directorate (RHD) to conduct a stakeholder mapping exercise to enhance government Family Planning (FP) and Youth Friendly Health Services (YFHS) programming coordination. Partner mapping excel templates were developed and shared with FP and YFHS coordinators to populate. The excel mapping captures FP and YFHS stakeholders across the 29 health districts, highlighting their geographical coverage and programmatic focus areas.
PROPEL Health in collaboration with RHD intends to translate this Excel-based mapping into an interactive web-based dashboard to ensure unlimited digital access of YFHS, FP/RH and population information by all the relevant stakeholders. The mapping will inform coordination, integration, joint implementation and monitoring of polices and strategies related to Youth, Family Planning and Population programming. 

PROPEL Health is therefore seeking services of an individual consultant to develop digital maps for Family Planning (FP) services, and Youth Friendly Health Services (YFHS). The consultant will collaborate with Palladium-based FP advisor, YFHS advisor, and Monitoring and Evaluation advisors to undertake this work. The specific duties for the consultancy are:

  • Determine the system requirements and design system architecture in collaboration with the FP, YFHS, and M&E advisors.
  • Undertake UI/UX design, Backend system development, and Frontend- system development
  • Conduct geospatial and tabular data cleaning and develop master list of facilities.
  • Develop the database from the master list.
  • Develop dashboard and conduct Integration testing and User testing
  • Develop system user manuals/standard operating procedures
  • Conduct user training on the system and submit a report
  • Provide post-deployment user support

Key Deliverables:

  • System Architecture design or Prototype
  • UI/UX design, Backend Development, Frontend- development
  • Geospatial and tabular data cleaning and master list development
  • Database development
  • Visualization, system testing and system deployment
  • System user manuals/standard operating procedures
  • User training on the system and submit a report
  • Post-deployment user support

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Sciences, Physical Planning or related field.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of geospatial and informatics outputs.
  • Demonstrated experience in the database design, development and management.
  • Experience in using the Business Intelligence tools such as PowerBI and Tableau.
  • Demonstrated experience in UI/UX designs and implementation.
  • Ability to take initiative and to work independently, as well as part of a team. 

Languages: Fluency in English is required. 

Payment Schedule
The consultant will be paid upon receipt of satisfactory deliverables. In submitting the financial proposals, consultants must therefore outline cost per deliverable.
