EGPAF has worked in Malawi since 2001. Today, EGPAF Malawi implements evidence-based HIV prevention, care and treatment interventions in 177 health facilities in nine districts through EGPAF’s U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief/U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (PEPFAR/CDC) – funded Achieving HIV Epidemic Control through Scaling Up Quality Testing, Care and Treatment in Malawi.
EGPAF seeks to fill the following open positions:
Title : Network Engineer

Reports to : Senior Network Engineer
How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?
The Network Engineer will be deployed to sites based on technical support needs as determined by the Senior Network Engineer. The Network Engineer will among other duties also perform the following duties as laid out in the TORS below;
No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect in this role?
- Ensure installation, configuration, support and troubleshooting of all Network related issues follows Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
- Schedule network upgrades and ensure minimal downtime on all scheduled network upgrades.
- Documentation of the entire network design implemented.
- Monitor the network and report downtime to ISP, follow up with ISP until issue is resolved on a daily basis.
- Monitor performance of links to ensure the quality of service and that capacity has been provisioned according to the requested capacity.
- Generate and produce Monthly uptime and downtime reports for all sites and any ISP connecting the sites. Ensure reports are presented in a manner that management can make decisions based on the reports.
- Follow up on all network reported issues and ensure they are timely closed.
- Identify and Resolve EMR network related issues in facilities.
- Installation and migration of EMR network infrastructure.
- Monitor connectivity for all connected EMRS sites.
- Reconfigure network equipment and maintain facility network infrastructure.
- Mentor HIS Officers on basic level POC system network support.
- Ability to perform Maintenance (both Preventive {Planned} and Corrective) on Wide Area Network with Routing and Switching hands on experience.
- Datacentre Core Switch configuration Troubleshooting and VLAN configuration and Management.
To be successful, you will need to have:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in computer science, information technology or related technical discipline (strongly preferred) or equivalent education and experience.
- 5+ years supporting large scale enterprise network infrastructures using Cisco solutions is an advantage.
- 5+ years of experience with routing and switching in a multi-vendor environment i.e. Cisco, Nexus, Meraki, ASA firewalls, Mikrotik, UBNT, Palo Alto, Info Blox and F5 Big IP load balancing.
- 5+ years designing enterprise scale routing and switching environments.
- 5+ years of experience with Network Monitoring.
- 5+ years of experience with services such as VLAN, VPN, WLAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, SMTP, DVMPN, IPSEC.
- Expert level experience with the following protocols and technologies: EIGRP, OSFP, BGP, MPLS, STP and HSRP.
- Subject matter expert experience installing, maintaining, and configuring network (WAN, LAN and WLAN), infrastructure.
- Working experience in a maintenance role in a similar environment and dealt with continuous maintenance and support.
- Experience in preventative maintenance.
